Hi! AS a driving instructor, I need to get to students homes. My old GPS (Roadmate 360) died on me. I'm thinking of purchasing a cellphone with GPS -like the new Nexus One. I can't decide between that and getting a separate GPS unit...like the Garmin

My cell phone has wonderful GPS system on it, but by the time i paid the $35.00/ month (25 for internet and 10 for navigation) it was worth it to me to buy a stand alone system. It ends up costing me about $147/ year with map up dates versus the $420

My online search shows Magellan Maestro 4700 and Garmin Nuvi 885t as best units with VOICE COMMAND. Both of these units have faults...any other suggestions welcome! From a driving instructor...thanks!

Garmin Nuvi 885T is a good one gps have a VOICE COMMAND (operate device with spoken commands) other model I suggestion a Nuvi 855.

i’ve tested both the sirfstar 3 gps chipset and the qualcom and the sirfstar 3 is slightly more accurate. I have found the qualcom is maybe 10 metres or so less accurate. Unfortunately most mobile devices are using the qualcom chipset now. Its pretty good but sirfstar 3 is more precise by 10 or 20 metres. you might find when driving qualcom chip takes longer to detect a new road turn than sirfstar 3. im not to sure but i think only sirfstar 3 supports WAS in north america which is very acrt
