Like the title says I am considering buying a Garmin Forerunner 405 but I want to know that if I running outside and its clear sky's do I need the footpad to be able to Get my speed and distance?
You'd really only need the foot pod if indoors on a treadmill or indoor track, or if regularly running a route where you have problems with satellite reception due to lots of tall buildings or thick tree coverage.

It seems like they keep pushing back the release date? Anyone know for sure when it should be out?? thanks
I heard they were released on April 25 by Garmin. I have one on order and still don't have it but people on message boards say they have them in stock now at REI.
Even though this is much smaller than any previous wrist-mounted GPS, it is still too large for me too wear comfortably on my fairly big (6.25") female wrist.
